Fatigue: A relatively common symptom during the perimenopause stage due to a drop in oestrogen levels. Magnesium plays a key role in energy metabolism and can help reduce feelings of fatigue and tiredness.

A woman’s magnesium levels may start to decline during menopause, so it’s crucial to replenish its stores.
Why is the form of magnesium important?
Just like the quality and amount of a nutrient, the form in which it’s provided is significant. We choose to provide magnesium in its glycinate form for our MegaMag® range (magnesium bound with glycine, a non-essential amino acid) because it’s one of the most bioavailable and absorbable forms of magnesium, therefore the most efficacious.

What’s the difference between the perimenopause & menopause?
Perimenopause is the first stage of the menopause process that can last around 8–10 years before a woman enters menopause itself, where she completely stops having a menstrual period. During perimenopause, a woman’s ovaries begin to produce less oestrogen and hormones fluctuate between high and low. The average age for this is 40 to 50.
The menopause is when a woman has not had a period for 12 months, at this age hormones become consistently low. The average age for menopause is between 45 and 55.
Postmenopause is the time after a 12 month cessation of periods where hormones will remain largely low, normally occurring for women aged 50 and older.
What does perimenopause do to your body?
During the perimenopause, levels of oestrogen in the body begin to rise and fall unevenly, causing your menstrual cycle to lengthen or shorten. You may begin having menstrual cycles in which your ovaries don’t release an egg (ovulate). You may also experience menopause-like symptoms, such as hot flushes, sleep concerns, mood changes and vaginal dryness.
How long before I feel an effect?
There are a range of different ingredients in MegaMag PeriMeno which have been designed to combat a range of symptoms so it’s likely you will notice different symptoms reductions after different time periods.
For example, magnesium can support areas of health such as sleep, and some people may notice a difference in just a few days. Other ingredients, such as sage, which can support hot flashes, may take a little longer.
Studies have shown that sage can decrease symptoms such as hot flushes after 4 weeks and 8 weeks1; and that Ashwagandha, at a dose of 300mg daily, has been shown to improve quality of life scores in menopausal women2.
